First coaches poll comes out tomorrow, any predictions? Here's mine (inclusive of results from yesterday although coaches wouldn't have ):
1. Pick North - not sure if they are deserving of #1 but I am predicting they are voted #1. Only result a somewhat surprisingly low margin of victory over Marysville 1-0.
2. Davidson - a surprise here so far with 3 solid wins over Bradley, Orange, and DeSales
3. Watterson - another surprise, 2-1 win over Olentangy jumps them up big for me
4. Darby - 3 wins although none jump out (4-2 DeSales, 5-0 West South, 2-0 West North)
5. Coffman - again no strong wins, but 2-0-1 with a tie against Liberty
6. Canal Winchester - 2-0-0 with a 1-0 over Gahanna which doesn't look as good now that Gahanna tied Unioto. Also 8-0 over Chillicothe
7. Liberty - 1-1-1 with a 2-1 loss to Clay but a 1-0 win over Bradley and 1-1 against Coffman is solid
8. New Albany - 2-0-1 but two soft wins over BW and Berlin and a defense-questioning tie 4-4 against Westerville North
9. Orange - lost 2-1 to Davidson and won 5-1 over Berlin. Record isn't great now but I expect they will be a top 4 team by end of season.
10. Jerome - even with a slow start and two bad losses, both games were against probable top 10 teams in the state, Jerome will bounce back
Others worth considering - Westerville Central is 3-0-0, although the wins are not good - Logan, Kilbourne, and Licking Heights. However that already ties their total wins from last year. Olentangy will climb.
That got really hard to think of worthy candidates after the top 5 or so. By the end of the season I expect Davidson and Watterson to drop and Orange, Jerome, Liberty, and Olentangy to climb up.
Pick North probably gets #1 by default at the moment.
D2 - Granville then a chaotic mess behind them
D3 - Not sure, don't really know anything about D3 teams.
